Hello, My Name Is Mom: Meet Rebecca

We all have a unique background and personality. Everyone has a different story, journey and title but we all have one thing in common—someone special calls us Mom. This series celebrates all moms, no matter how we got the title. Today’s featured mom is Rebecca—I’m excited to introduce you to a non-blogging mom. I know Rebecca through a local forum, and she has become a friend.

If you had to write a bio without including your kids or any form of the word Mom, what would it say? Rebecca was in th top 25% of her graduating class in High School. She loves to sing. She loved to draw before she was burdened by her tremors. She has been through a lot in her 33 years and is looking forward to going back to school and doing something she loves.

How did you get the name Mom? I went through a little more than 24 hrs of labor and gave birth to a 6lb baby girl named Brieyanna 11 years ago.

What is your favorite thing about being a mom? Sometimes, it’s hearing my son say mommy. Mostly, it’s that I am the one they come to for anything and everything. Oh, and I love the kisses and hugs.

What is your biggest motherhood challenge? Raising them as a single mother, and, until last year, I was doing it while learning to walk again.

If you could say one thing to every new mother, what would it be? Cherish them while they are little. They don’t stay that way for long. Never lose your patience because they will try you as they grow up but thank you when they are grown.

Nice to meet you Rebecca! Lots of respect over here for single parents! I know I go nuts when I’m alone with my three kids for any length of time. Thanks for sharing about yourself today!
