Who Eats Lunch That Early? (Plus Totino’s Giveaway)

During the summer, my girls would snack all day, if I’d let them. And, if I don’t? They eat breakfast, lunch & dinner without (much) whining in between. Now that we are back to school, though, you’d think they were suddenly undernourished. They beg for snack from the minute we walk in the door until I relent or we reach our cutoff time (no snacking after 4:30pm has always been a household rule).

I couldn’t understand it at all. I get that they need to eat more in the summertime—we’re a lot more active between parks, playgrounds & swimming. But, why are they so hungry right after school? At first, I thought it was just the ingrained idea of “after school snack” but these aren’t your everyday snacks.

I remember after school snack—cookies & milk, cheese & crackers, a few potato chips—these girls want a 2nd lunch! They’ll fix a sandwich for snack! Totino’s is filling the need with their roll snacks & party pizzas. At first, I thought it was just that commercialization creating the ‘need’ for 2nd lunch. Until one of my daughter’s friends mentioned her school lunch break is at 10:45.

In. The. Morning.

Totino's prize packNo wonder kids are starving by 3pm! Luckily, our school lunch is at 11:30—that’s definitely reasonable, in comparison. I would rethink my lunch packing system to add even more food, but they’re actually bringing home leftovers. They just aren’t hungry enough that early. After school snack it is, then.

At least if your kids are fixing a pizza when they get home, you get Box Tops for Education to contribute to the school as well! For the last couple weeks, Totino’s has been including bonus Box Tops on their products. You’ll probably still find a few in your grocer’s freezer. They’re also providing 8 schools with 10,000 Box Tops, school supplies and free Totino’s snacks through the “Make School a Better Place Sweepstakes!”

Plus, Totino’s wants to help with your kids’ hunger problems with this back to school snack pack giveaway!
