Bathtime Spelling Words

Like most everyone I know, I keep a busy schedule. In fact, as I write this I just finished a 13 hour work day, then picked up the princess from dance class, went to the grocery store, proof read homework, did 2 loads of laundry and have tried to eat dinner twice. (I was mostly successful at eating dinner on the second try.) We also had to get a bath for the princess so she could go to bed close to bedtime.

And, tomorrow there is a spelling test. So, I did the only thing that I know how to do well—we multi-tasked. Frequently, I have the princess write her spelling words in the bathtub. We keep dry erase markers in the shower and we use them often to practice school work.

In preparation for the big bath time spelling challenge, I write the words on the bathroom mirror in dry erase marker. Those markers are amazing, it comes right off at the end of the week with glass cleaner and she gets to see them every day as she gets ready for school and bed. This is a win-win.

I’ve recently started leaving her math problems on the shower wall so that she sees them right away. I just check the answers at my next shower.

This may not be the most efficient way to get in the practice that she needs, but it works for us. And, I’ll do anything to accomplish two things at a time!

My name is Mom. I live in Fairy Tale Land with a Pirate, a Fairy and the Princess. My job duties include: head cook, Chief Executive of Laundry Operations, Vacuum Maintenance Engineer, Chief of Picking up Random objects and Primary Sherpa. I spend a great deal of time carrying sparkly, sequined, glitter covered tutus and miscellaneous dance shoes for the Princess. I long for moments of quiet and a mani/pedi. Trying to strike a balance between being a grown up and being a good mom. FairyTaleMom tagged this post with: , , Read 52 articles by

Noce post. I was expecting to see that there were geography problems on the toast.

  2. Seriously, I’m going out to buy markers today! This is such a great idea. Not just for multi-tasking, but because anything new and different makes things interesting and fun to learn again. Thanks for sharing, I was running out of ways to make addition and subtraction combinations “fun” (for either of us!).
