Toddler Gift Ideas: Holiday Book Traditions (Plus a Disney Giveaway!)

There was a book I read every year as a child, approximately 100 times, leading into Christmas. Then, I read it to my brother. When my daughter was born, I bought a new copy to read to her. I still have the original, but the scratch and sniff stickers didn’t smell anymore. So, she got a new one.

This book became a tradition for me. I still get it out with the Christmas decorations and display it every year. We may even read it, though it’s well below the reading level of anyone in this house. I like that, through the years, this story has stayed with us.

That’s what a great book does. The story becomes part of the the holiday. It becomes part of the shared history that makes holidays special. We always had books as gifts for Christmas. My parents wanted to be sure we loved to read so reading would be easier in school. I did the same for my girl.

I still make sure that new books are under the tree every year. This year her list includes 17 books. While she won’t get all of them, I’m happy to make sure that Santa finds several in his bag. Books are high on my list of Toys Mom Won’t Hate.

They offer the opportunity for quiet, quality time with kids of all ages. Toddlers may not read the words, but they love to hear you read the story to them. Books top our toddler gift guide because they also provide the gift of your time together. And, when you aren’t reading, they look at the pictures over and over again.

If you’re looking for good book ideas, Disney has offered up some great titles for us to share with your family this year. We have a small collection of books featuring your toddler’s favorite Disney characters, including new holiday stories you’re going to love! I know a few Doc McStuffins fans who would love this surprise on Christmas morning.

And, a Perry the Platypus-themed Twas the Night Before Christmas? Yes, please!

And right now, you have the chance to win a set of 6 books perfect for toddlers and preschoolers, featuring Frozen, Phineas & Ferb, Sofia, Doc McStuffins, and Mickey Mouse! My name is Mom. I live in Fairy Tale Land with a Pirate, a Fairy and the Princess. My job duties include: head cook, Chief Executive of Laundry Operations, Vacuum Maintenance Engineer, Chief of Picking up Random objects and Primary Sherpa. I spend a great deal of time carrying sparkly, sequined, glitter covered tutus and miscellaneous dance shoes for the Princess. I long for moments of quiet and a mani/pedi. Trying to strike a balance between being a grown up and being a good mom. FairyTaleMom tagged this post with: , , , , , Read 52 articles by

Everyone gets a few books for Christmas, at least. We are very big on reading in this household.
